He took his degree in Medicine and Surgery at Santiago de Compostela University and his doctor's degree at Seville University. He specialised in Cardiology, Electroradiology and Paediatrics. He got a scholarship from the Autonomous University of Madrid ('La Paz' Hospital) and at Guy's Hospital in London. He also got a scholarship at Harvard University (Boston -USA) and worked as a Professor at the College of the Circulatory System at Seville University. He has been president of the Andalusian Society of Cardiology, vice-president of the Andalusian Foundation of Cardiology, member of the board of directors of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, honourable president of the Andalusian Society of Cardiology and member of the European Society of Paediatric Cardiology. Nowadays, he is the head of the Unit of Hemodynamic and Interventionist Cardiology at 'Virgen del Rocío' Child's Hospital (Seville).

 Work & Activities

He has presented over 200 reports to national and international conferences and published more than 50 works in national and international scientific magazines. The following investigation lines (which ended up in doctoral thesis) were carried out under his direction: Válvula plástica percutánea pulmonar. Seguimiento mediante ECO-Doppler; Estudio angiográfico de la vascularización pulmonar en la Tetralogía de Fallot; Valvuloplastia aórtica percutánea con catéter-balón; Atrioseptostomía con balón bajo control ecocardiográfico; Aplicación y ventajas de Ecocardiografía Transesofágica en niños.
