He took a degree in Geography and History at Complutense University (Madrid, 1978). He taught Criticism, Aesthetics and Art of the 20th Century in the Faculties of Fine Arts in Salamanca (1988-92) and Pontevedra (1993-95). He was editor-in-chief of the art paper 'Buades' (1984-89) and worked as an art critic in magazines and newspapers such as Diario 16 and ABC. In 1995, he founded the bimonthly magazine 'Arte y parte' about artistic information, which he edited until 1998. From 1995 to 1998, he was responsible for purchases at 'Coca Cola' Foundation in Spain. From 1996 to 2000, he was on the board of directors of 'IVAM'. He was the Spanish representative at Sâo Paolo Biennial (1989) and commissioner of several exhibitions such as 'Artistas en Madrid, años 80', the last editions of 'Salón de los 16' and 'Una mirada tensa'. From 1998 to 2005, he has directed the Galician Centre of Contemporary Art, where he has organised exhibitions of artists such as Giuseppe Penone, Jürgen Partenheimer, Rafael Baixeras, Francisco Leiro, Rebecca Horn, Georges Rousse, Stephan Balkenhol, Darío Villalba and Peter Wüthrich.
