She has a multidisciplinary training in the field of theatre and audiovisual. She mainly studied in various schools as Espacio Aberto in Santiago de Compostela, Centre de Estudies Cinematogràfics of Catalunya in Barcelona and an Interpretation and Dramatic Arts Postdegree at the University of Santiago de Compostela.

She followed courses on Screenwriting and Directing Actors at the Centre de Estudies Cinematogràfics de Catalunya (Barcelona), in the International School of Film and TV Drama of Cuba studied dramatic construction, and in the School of Image and Sound in A Coruña trained as a filmmaker and Audiovisual Performances. Also, she currently teaches in the school of interpretation “Espacio Aberto” (Compostela) where she teaches an annual course for actors of “Interpretation in front of the camera”.

As actress, Sonia Mendez was worked in the TV serial “Terras de Miranda” (Galicia, 2001) which was later followed by other series such as “Os Atlánticos” produced by Filmanova and broadcasted on TVG. Meanwhile, she was participating in films like “Rafael”, by Xavier Bermúdez, “Unha Muller Invisible” by Gerardo Herrero, “Por mí y por todos mis compañeros” directed by Judas Diz or “El Sexo de los Ángeles” directed by Xavier Villaverde.

She is currently working on developing her first long film with Xamalú Filmes and she´s creator, screenwriter and actress on the online serial Angélica y Roberta, with Sandra Lesta.
