Since he was a child, he showed his skill at music, mainly at the piano. After getting a grant from the Town Hall of Vilalba and the County Council Offices of Lugo, he moved to Madrid to study piano, harmony and Secondary Education. When he was twenty, he went to Paris by means of a grant from the Spanish Government. In Paris, he became a journalist and started to work at the French National Radio. He directed all the programmes in Galician language and became editor-in-chief of all the programmes for Latin America and Spain.

He won three international radio prizes: 'Radio España' with 'Julio Cortazar', 'Radio España' with 'De Berceo al altiplano' and 'Radio La Habana' with 'De la Bastilla a Moncada'.
