He studied Secondary Education and Teaching in Lugo. Then he studied Romance Philology in Santiago de Compostela and Journalism in Madrid. He started his journalistic activity in the old newspaper Diario SP (Madrid). He was the editor of the magazines 'Chan' (Madrid), 'Triunfo' (Madrid), 'Actualidad Económica' (Madrid), 'Teima' (Santiago), 'Viajar' (Madrid), 'Tiempo' (Madrid), 'CO&CO' (Barcelona) and the newspapers El País (Barcelona), Avui (Barcelona), El Periódico (Barcelona), El Progreso (Lugo) and La Región (Ourense). He was the head of the research service and editor in chief of the weekly paper 'Interviu'. He also edited the magazine 'Gam' (A Coruña) and directed the editorial staff of Gran Enciclopedia Gallega. Nowadays he is the head of the press service in the City Council of Ferrol.
He wrote the following essays: Galicia, realidade e conflicto social (several authors, Banco de Bilbao, 1978), La conexión gallega, del tabaco a la cocaína ('B' Publications, Barcelona, 1991) and Memoria infinda ('Pentalfa' Publications, Santiago, 1994).
During Franco's dictatorship, he worked as a correspondent of the BBC in London (under the pseudonym 'Antonio del Eo) for several years.
The Association of Galician Journalists awarded him Diego Bernal Journalism Prize in 2008.
