She took a degree in Biology at 'Complutense' University (Madrid). In 1988, she went to Paris University and attended a course on Marine Biology through the 'Erasmus' programme. She completed her education with courses and MA's related to commercial management, foreign trade and the administration of companies. After finishing her studies, she moved to Ourense to take charge of the family company 'Mecanizados Rodríguez Fernández'. She was first vice-president of the Galician Parliament from 2001 to 2005.

She is the president of the 'Club of Family Company' in Ourense, member of the Commission of Foreign Trade and teacher of International Marketing in the MA on Foreign Trade (Santiago University).
