Curriculum She took a degree in Economics at the University of Bilbao (1970) and her doctor’s degree at the University of Santiago de Compostela (1975). She has been a Professor at that university since 1970 and a Professor of Econometrics since 1987. From 1997 to 2007, she has directed the master’s degree in International Sectorial Economy. Many students from Latin America, Europe, Japan, China, United States and North Africa participated in this master’s degree.
Work & Activities She directed the Econometrics research team (University of Santiago de Compostela). She has published over 120 research works on applied economy; many of them are already available free on the web page of the Econometrics team of the USC and at the international base of economic research Ideas-Repec. The most important books, articles and reports she wrote in Spanish are those about regional and sectorial economy in the European Union, education and development in Latin America and comparative studies of Spain, Europe and countries from the OCDE. Her research works in English focus mainly on the international economic development, especially in India, China, Africa and other areas. Some of her articles have been selected and included in several books of the ICFAI University of Hyderabad – India and the Tufts University of the United States for the publication of a CD with selected works about the world economic development.
Other Interesting Aspects She is a member of the Hispalink Group, and member of the scientific board of several Spanish and international magazines related to economic research. She has collaborated in several research projects on Galician economy, financed by the Xunta de Galicia. She has been a councillor at Santiago de Compostela City Council, member of the Galician University Council, at the proposal of the Galician Parliament, and member of the governing body of the University, representing the heads of department.
