He took a degree in Mathematics in June 1970. During the course 1970-71, he started his computer formation in the Calculation Centre at Madrid University by means of a scholarship granted by Santiago University. From 1970 to 1974, he directed the Calculation Centre at Santiago University. During the course 1974-75, he got a scholarship from the National Institute of Investigation in Computer and Automatic Science (Paris) to work in the project 'Cyclades. Computer network', where he began his formation in databases. During the courses 1975-76, 1976-77 and 1977-78, he went on directing the Calculation Centre at Santiago University. On 12th December 1978, he read the doctoral thesis Integridad externa de una Base de Datos distribuida en una Red General de Ordenadores, getting the best qualification 'cum laude' and the national prize 'CITEMA' to the best doctoral thesis in Computer Science ever read in Spain from 1978 to 1980. Until 1984 he went on directing the Calculation Centre and working as Professor in the Faculty of Economical and Business Sciences.
From 1978 to 1984, he was president of Association of University Calculation Centres in Spain. In 1978 and 1982, he organised the First and Second Symposia on Computer Science). The third symposium would be carried out in 1999 in Santiago. From 1976 to 1984, he wrote articles in specialised magazines. In 1984, in collaboration with Serge Miranda, he published the book L'art des Bases de Données (three volumes - fifth edition). Since 1984 until 2008, he was a Professor in the Department of Electronics and Calculation, although he carried out his activity was in the Faculty of Economical and Business Sciences.
In 1984, he had a bicycle accident and was in coma for 60 days in the intensive care unit at Santiago's Hospital. Because of the accident, he was paraplegic and very affected in his memory for the first four years. Since 1989, he has given doctorate courses in the Faculty of Economical and Business Sciences. In 1998, he published a database article in the magazine 'Informática e Automática'.
