He made the ecclesiastic career at the Diocesan Seminary in Valencia and was ordained as priest on 29th June 1953. In 1955, he became coadjutor of the parish church 'San Jaime Apóstol de Moncada'. In 1959, he was the priest of the parish church 'Nuestra Señora de Fátima' in Valencia. From 1955 to 1959, he worked as a Religion teacher of Secondary Education. From 1960 to 1966, he taught Moral Theology at the 'Sagrada Familia' Theology School. In 1957, he took his doctor's degree in Theology at the Pontifical University in Salamanca. In 1967, he was the priest of the parish church 'San Jaime Apóstol de Moncada'. In 1970 and 1971, he taught Pastoral Theology. On 8th May 1971, he was ordained as bishop at Valencia's cathedral. From 1971 to 1976, he was assistant bishop. From 1976 to 1987, he was bishop in Ibiza. From 1987 to 2005, he was bishop of Mondoñedo-Ferrol. As bishop, he was a member of the Pastoral Episcopal Committee, the Clergy Episcopal Committee and the Bishopric Mixed Committee. Nowadays, he is a missionary in Lima (Peru).
