He studied the military career and after getting the rank of lieutenant, he was appointed to Vitoria and then to Getafe. In 1920, he entered the Service of Military Aeronautics, being appointed to Africa, where he carried out many air recognitions. He made courses in the School of Aeronautics in Paris and took a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. In 1925, he was promoted to major and became director of 'Cuatro Vientos' School of Transformation and head of a squadron. On 5th April 1926, he travelled to the Far East, leaving from 'Cuatro Vientos' and arriving in Manila on 13th May 1926. He died in 1927 in an accident in 'Cuatro Vientos'.
He got the Cross of Saint Ferdinand. He was conferred the title of 'doctor honoris causa' at 'Santo Tomás' University and honorary citizen of Manila. In June 1927, he was paid a great homage in his native village, Lalín, where he had arrived by plane, landing in the outskirts of Lalín. It was the first time that an airplane landed in Galicia. In 1933, a memorial by Francisco Asorey was unveiled.
