He studied at the Seminary in Lugo. He has been a priest since 22nd April 1958 and teacher at the Seminary from 1958 to 1981. From 1981 to 1998, he was also the priest of the 'Xeral-Calde' Hospital in Lugo. He studied Christian Archaeology in Rome, where he took his doctor's degree with a doctoral thesis titled El Complejo de Temes, which has already been published. From 1983 to 1992, he was the provincial commissioner of the Art, Archaeological and Historic Heritage of Lugo. He collaborated in the elaboration of the architectonic inventory of Lugo and province. He has been a member of 'Grupo Francisco de Moure' of Ourense since 1987. He is also cultural adviser of the Works Committee of Lugo's Cathedral. Since October 1994, he has been a member of Lugo's Diocesan Committee of Sacred Art and Heritage.

He published over a hundred articles in specialized magazines and over three hundred scientific and journalistic ones. He took part in eleven national and international congresses with his own research work. He has given 37 lectures to medium and high-level people present. He also made 52 specialized reports at the request of state bodies.
