When he was thirteen he stowed away to Cuba. He had several jobs until he travelled to Mexico. In 1931, he came back to Spain and established himself in his native city. He devoted himself to several activities until he devoted himself to cinema because of his friendship to the Torrado brothers. In 1940, he moved to Madrid and created the first cinematographic studio, called 'Suevia Films'.

 Work & Activities

His first production was Polizón a bordo (1941), which was an autobiographical film. Between 1941 and 1955 he made 62 films. He got prizes for fifteen of these films because of their creativity: La rueda de la vida (1942), El abanderado (1943), Bambú (1945), La pródiga (1946), El crimen de Pepe Conde (1946), Reina Santa (1946), La Nao Capitana (1946), La Fe (1947), Botón de ancla (1947), La calle sin sol (1948), Mare Nostrum (1948), Una mujer cualquiera (1949), La Señora de Fátima (1951), La corona negra (1951) and Muerte de un ciclista (1955). In the late 60's he showed in China the films El batallón de las sombras (1956), El derecho de nacer (1951) and Muerte de un ciclista (1956). Other interesting films are La laguna negra (1952), El guardián del paraíso (1955), La guerra empieza en Cuba (1957), Mi último tango (1958), El balcón de la luna (1962) and so forth.
