Carlota Álvarez Basso


 Curriculum

She graduated as ‘Maîtrise en Sociologie’, Nanterre University, Paris X, France, validated by a degree in Sociology at Complutense University (1983-87). From 1987 to 1989, she attended doctorate course on the cultural consumption in Spain at the Sociology and Communication Theory Department (Faculties of Information Sciences, Sociology and Fine Arts), Complutense University (Madrid).
As far as her professional activity is concerned, she directed Vigo’s Contemporary Art Museum (September 2001), the ‘Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones’ in Pontevedra (April 1999 - April 2001), the Audiovisual Work Department at ‘Reina Sofía’ National Museum in Madrid (January 1992 - March 1999) and taught practical classes in the ‘Video-Art’ Department at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, (October 1990 - May 1991) and worked as a sociologist specialised in marketing applied to cultural consume. He has been a member of several honourable committees and advisory boards of cultural institutions.
