He is a member of several cultural institutions such as the Institute of Galician Studies, Centre of Historical Studies of Pontevedra, Galician and Spanish Association of Archaeologists, 'Galaico-Minhoto' Cultural Institute, Society for the advance of critical thought and the Archaeological Association of Vigo.

He is also a member of the Catalan Academy of Fine Arts.

His research activity as archaeologist focusses mainly in three aspects: the Celtic settlements, the origins of Pontevedra and Galician rupestrian art.

He has already classified over 500 complicated pictures.

The result of the research works is reflected in fourteen books and two hundred articles in specific publications.

He also took part in about a hundred congresses, courses and round-table conferences, giving lectures and reports.

He has also directed forty campaigns in archaeological excavations such as those of the famous Celtic settlements 'Torroso' in Mos (Pontevedra) and 'Santa Tecla' in A Garda (Pontevedra).
