He studied Philosophy and Teaching. He works as teacher in Panxón - Nigrán (Pontevedra). He got the following literary prizes: 'O Facho' (1985), Second Prize 'O Facho' (1986), 'Vila da Estrada' (1986), 'Café de Catro a Catro' (1988), 'Galician-Leonese Narration' Prize (1990), 'Xerais' (1990), prize to communication from the 'Humour Museum' in Fene (1991), 'Álvaro Cunqueiro' Prize (1993), 'García Barros' Prize (1996), 'Manuel Murguía' (1998) and the Second Prize 'Pedrón de Ouro' (1998). He is a member of the 'Álvaro Cunqueiro' and 'Inés Ollero' Foundations. He has collaborated in different Galician newspapers, especially Faro de Vigo and A Nosa Terra with about two hundred articles. He also took part in several collective painting exhibitions. Besides, he is a member of the editorial staff of the humourous magazine 'Xo!' and the magazine 'Gallaecia Norte-Sur'.

 Work & Activities

He wrote the following novels: Peito de Vimbio, Ed. Xerais-1988. As baleas de E. Reinero, Ed. Xerais-Vigo-1990. O Espírito de Bronstenac Ed. Xerais-Vigo-1996. O Bosque de Levas, Ed .Cumio-Vigo-2000. He is also the author of the storybooks: O Eco de Ramallón, Ir indo, Vigo-1992. Catapulta, Ed .Xerais-Vigo-1995. Xente de mala morte, Galaxia -Vigo-1996. Contos Mamíferos, Cumio -Vigo-1998.. He wrote some tales in collective books and the poetry book Na Flor do Vento, Espiral Maior, A Coruña-1998. He is the son of the before mentioned author and translated two of his novels into Galician language: Na vila hai caras novas y Enchen as augas (Ed. Ir indo.). He also wrote stories for children such as Os nenos que plantaron a pedra de auga (Galaxia, Vigo 1997). Alfonso Álvarez has given many lectures about literature and taken part in Congresses of 'Galeuzka'.
