He took a degree in Law at Santiago de Compostela University and Economical Sciences and Arts in Paris and London. After working at several universities, he has been a Professor of Economical Structure at Santiago de Compostela University since 1970. He lived the beginning of his political activity in secrecy. The Galician Socialist Party was founded in 1963 and he was present in the elaboration of the historical 'Documento conxunto PSG-UPG' (1969). In 1977, he became a member of the Galician Academy, then he gave up. He took part in the creation of the political party 'BNG' and was a member of the Galician Parliament.
