He studied the military career and reached the rank of brigadier. He filled the office of temporary war minister, 'director general de Caminos, Puertos, Faros y Telégrafos', member of the 'Junta de Revisión y Reforma de las Ordenanzas del Ejército', senator in representation of Lugo (1843) and extraordinary royal consultant (1846-47).

He published the following books: Resumen histórico del Arma de Ingenieros en general y en particular de España (1846), Biografía del ingeniero español Pedro Navarro (1846) and he was writing Historia del Cuerpo de Ingenieros when he died.
