He took a doctor's degree in Computer Science and Knowledge Engineering. He directed the first laboratory of artificial intelligence in Spain and was a visitor Professor at the Sunderland Polytechnic (Great Britain), the Joint Research Centre (USA) and Carnegie-Mellon University (USA). He also took part as rapporteur in several conferences such as SEID'2000, International Conference Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering (SEKE'97).

(1994); "Towards a Joint Life Cycle for Software and Knowledge Engineering" in Knowledge Oriented Software Design, IFIP, 1993 and "An University Course Advisor System" en Artificial Intelligence Technology: Applications and Management, Tata McGraw-Hill, 1993.
He created the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence in the Faculty of Computer Science (Polytechnical University - Madrid) and designed the methodology for knowledge management. He practises swimming and became Galician champion.
