He took a degree in Medicine at the University of Santiago de Compostela (1978), specialised in Endrocrinology and Nutrition (1982) and a doctor’s degree at the same university (2001). He was a Professor at the School of Nursing in Lugo (1983-86) and since 1992 he has been an associate Professor in the Faculty of Medicine (Santiago de Compostela). Since 1991, he has been the head of the Endocrinology Service in Lugo.
He is the president of the Association of Doctors in Lugo.
