He took a degree in Medicine and Surgery at Santiago University (1964-1970) and a degree in Stomatology at the Autonomous University in Madrid (1970-72). In 1978, he became a maxillary and facial surgeon. In 1986, he took his doctor's degree in Medicine and Surgery at Santiago University. Since 1988, he has been teaching Pathology and Dental Therapeutics in the Faculty of Medicine and Odontology. In June 1999, he did an MA in Implantation at Bern University and he has been directing the MA in Dental Therapeutics in the Faculty of Medicine and Odontology since 1995.
He wrote several chapters for books of his speciality and gave formation courses all over Spain, organised by the Council of Odontologists and Stomatologists. He has sixty eight works published in Spain and abroad and took part in many scientific meetings and conferences.
He is married and has five children: three women and two men.
