José Carlos Rodríguez Andina

After studying Secondary Education at ‘Manuel Peleteiro’ School (1962-69), he took a degree in Mathematics at Santiago de Compostela University (1969-74). As far as his teaching activity is concerned, he started as a temporary teacher and shortly after as a teacher of Mathematics at ‘Carlos Mª Rodríguez de Valcarcel’ Secondary School in Ribadeo (today the so-called ‘Dionisio Gamallo Fierros’ Secondary School). He has been deputy head and principal on several occasions at that centre.

As a politician, he represented the Popular Party in the opposition in the City Council of Ribadeo (1991-95), he was mayor from 1995 to 2003 and first vicepresident of the County Council of Lugo since 1999. Since 2009 he is Territorial Chief of Consellería de Cultura e Turismo in Lugo.

He is the vicepresident of the association ‘Sociedad Amigos da Gaita' that organises the ‘Xira de Santa Cruz’. In the late 80’s and early 90’s he directed Ribadeo B.C.
